The St Ayles Skiffs are 22ft row boats that are similar to ancient Scottish craft used for fishing and recreation around the Scottish Isles. The St Ayles Skiff was designed for communities to build and own, to encourage community engagement and build skills in both boat building and rowing. These boats are now being built around the world for this purpose.
The Williamstown group commenced in July 2016. We are a women's only group assisted by a very patient and competent professional prominent male boat builder. We are a committed group and meet weekly to build our mighty Skiff.
We are a not for profit group. We continuously fund raise to enable us to complete this amazing community project.

With constant promotions on 3CR community radio “let’s go fishing” program and 3AK recreational boating and fishing show, local newspaper fishing columns and editorials, the club became known among fishing fraternity and the membership started to grow.
On august 28th 2001 the Hobsons Bay City Council unanimously resolved to give owners consent to the proposal of Hobsons Bay sport & game fishing club and the Australian coast guard to construct a building for club facilities on w.G. Cresser reserve.
A new safe boat harbour had just been built and completed in April 2001 for the safe launching and retrieving of water crafts which is a great asset to our type of sport for all to appreciate.
The hbs&gfc has now in excess of 200 members, consisting of men, women and children.

It holds safety lectures conducted by the Australian volunteer coast guard, water police and others.
Talks are frequently given by well- known fishing identities on bream, surf, whiting, freshwater, snapper, game-fishing techniques as well as general fishing items of interest to members.
The club welcomes new membership from anyone who wants to learn about fishing to the experienced. Families and junior members are most welcome and encouraged to participate in this very relaxing sport.
